Nir Eyal is an American author, lecturer, entrepreneur, and frequent speaker at industry conferences
and Fortune 500 companies.
In addition to his personal blog, NirAndFar.com, he is a frequent contributing writer for
Forbes, TechCrunch, and Psychology Today – writing about the intersection of psychology,
technology, and business. Nir frequently writes about how technology shapes user behavior by creating new habits.
Nir Eyal's book Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products was published by Portfolio
on November 4, 2014 and debuted on the Wall Street Journal business bestseller list.
Hooked made several "best of" lists including being named one of the best business books
of the year by Goodreads and the best marketing book of the year by 1800CEOREAD.
Nir is an Israeli-born American now residing in Silicon Valley, California.
Nir co-founded two start-ups. The first, Sunshine Business Development was acquired in 2007.
The second, AdNectar, received venture funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and was acquired in 2011.
For most of his career he has worked in the video gaming and advertising industries where he learned,
applied, and at times rejected, the techniques used to motivate and manipulate users.
He writes to help companies create behaviors that benefit their users,
while educating people on how to build healthful habits in their own lives.
Nir holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from Emory University.
